"I want to continue using computer animation in my classroom because I could see that it was a successful way to engage students' interests, and also they learn a lot."       — Jan Gardner, high school teacher

SPRITE In the High School is a program designed to bring an exciting animation based math and science curriculum directly to your school. The program offers a flexible modularized format that can be used in many modes so that you can best fit your individual teaching needs. The modules can be used in your own classroom, as a cooperative effort shared across several classes, or as an after school program that helps support your existing curriculum. Modules are available that are suitable as short term supplements to your current curriculum or as an extended and more in-depth supplement to your existing curriculum. Math and science learning modules that can be used for a few hours to an entire course are available in a wide range of content areas. The SPRITE team will work with teachers and administrators to coordinate a schedule suitable to individual school and teacher needs.

High school math, science, or technology teachers in the Puget Sound region who are interested in using computer animation to enhance and reinforce their math and science curricula are eligible to participate, and groups of teachers from the same school who wish to utilize the curriculum in coordinated studies or cross-disciplinary classes are especially encouraged to apply.

Students participating in the program learn the basics of computer animation and produce their own short computer animations. The program uses student-created animations as a way of investigating and visualizing principles of math and science. Activities will be designed to reinforce your existing curricula. No previous programming experience is required by either the teacher or students.
